About Oscar’s Bistro

After 25 years in Galway, Oscars Seafood Bistro has earned its reputation as one of Ireland’s finest seafood restaurants. We’ve done it by staying true to what matters: ethical, sustainable, wild seafood, sourced locally and prepared with care. We shine a light on the underrated, the overlooked—the by-catch species that deserve a place at the table.

The result? Thoughtful, ingredient-driven cooking that has picked up its fair share of recognition—Seafood Restaurant of the Year, Seafood Chef of the Year, and a place in every major food guide. But awards aren’t what drive us. It’s the simple joy of serving damn good seafood, in a space that’s refined yet relaxed, sophisticated yet never snobby.

At the helm is Chef-Owner Michael O’Meara, whose passion for the ocean extends beyond the kitchen. His book, Sea Gastronomy: Fish and Shellfish of the North Atlantic, wasn’t just named Best Seafood Book in the World—it also took home Best Seafood Publication of the Past 25 Years at the prestigious Gourmand Awards.
